This rustic, traditional blend is a favourite in most North and South Indian households. Channa , or Chole, is a homey, rich chickpea (Garbanzo Bean) curry, gently spiced to bring out the flavour of the chickpea. This chole masala curry together with poori (a deep-fried puffed bread) is a comfort food for many Indians. Chickpeas are high in protein, and also very filling, making them a great curry for the vegetarian diet.
Regency's Channa Masala follows the same recipe that has been used in our home for generations. Cook this curry powder gently with chopped onions, tomato puree, then add chickpeas and slowcook for about 25 minutes until done. Add salt to taste.
Channa Masala Cooking Notes
Usage: Gently fry this masala with freshly chopped onions and tomatoes. Add chickpeas and cook on low heat until done. Roughly 1 tsp of masala per 2 servings. We have added light amounts of chilli and salt, you may wish to taste and add more.
