Born in Hong Kong from one cook’s frustration—and a family’s expertise in spices.
Regency Spices began with frustration in my own kitchen. I loved a tangy yogurt drink (Laban) from my childhood living in the Middle East, but each year it tasted a little more… diluted. The same was happening to spices, sauces, and even vegetables I bought at the supermarket. When I asked my father—who’d spent decades in the trade—he explained the quiet truth of mass retail: supermarkets need to anchor products to price-points, so something has to give. Usually, it’s quality.
I didn’t believe everyone wanted cheaper over better. Some of us just want what we remember: full flavour, real aroma, no shortcuts. With my family’s generational know-how, we built Regency Spices Hong Kong to protect that standard for the ingredients that we know inside-out. We source our spices and dry fruits from their natural origins, and we refuse additives or cutting corners in growing and processing. Most Regency ingredients are processed the same way they used to be when my grandparents were young. If consistency and honest flavours matter to you, you’re the Regency kind of cook.
