Figs come from all around the world and are cultivated in over 100 varieties. Dry Figs and Fresh figs are entirely different beasts. Whereas Mission Figs from the USA are prized for their colour and flavour, these figs are quite ordinary once dried. By contrast, figs from Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey, are most prized for their flavours when dried. Each of these 3 figs have their own subtleties. They are different species, with different appearances and tastes!
We find the USA figs to be amongst the best for all-purpose use: be it baking, snacking or cooking. They are jumbo sized and relatively soft with a meaty very sweet and slightly savoury inner fruit. Hope you enjoy cooking with these as much as we do!

Please note that our ingredients are 100% natural and processed using traditional methods. As a result there may be some visible imperfections. Our spices will have variations in size and colour due to factors such as the amount of sunlight they received when growing, or the amount of rainfall in a particular season. These differences in appearance are entirely normal, and are the result of not treating them with any chemicals, reducing unnecessary hand selection, and minimizing waste.
