This luxurious peppercorn has been gathering a lot of popularity in culinary circles, and we've finally managed to locate a brilliant source for it straight from Cambodia. Kampot Peppercorns are a region protected product, much like Champagne, meaning they can only be legally marketed as Kampot if they are grown in a specific region of Cambodia, have the farm certified and licensed by the local government and grown to specific standards, and the process repeated each year. This adds a tremendous cost and scarcity to anotherwise simple gift from nature.
We believe it's well worth the treat! These peppercorns smell citrusy and carry some great delicate citrus, mint and hot pepper flavour notes, making them quite unique. Red Kampot Peppercorns are peppercorns harvested before reaching full maturity, and thus carry more of these special flavour undertones.
