This classic Japanese curry has interesting origins - originally introduced to Japan by the British, this curry is considered a western dish. Of course, curry came to Britain from India, so Japanese curry is technically a fusion of a fusion! If you haven't tried it before - it has those telltale spice flavours of an Indian curry but presented in an altogether different way. More rich flavours, more focus on the sweeter spices versus the hot ones, and intended to be eaten with rich fatty deep fried meats, eggs, cheese and rice.

Japanese Katsu Curry Technical Notes
Ingredients: Allspice, Bay Leaves, Green Cardamom, Cassia Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander, Cumin, Fenugreek, Nutmeg, Turmeric
Usage: Pan fry thinly sliced onions in oil, and then add the curry powder and your meat. If you want to make it spicy, add some chilli powder here. Then add any stock / broth or water, tomato paste, and optional root vegetables. Bring to a boil, add butter and simmer until it reduces down into a thick paste. Add salt to taste.
Please note that our ingredients are 100% natural and processed using traditional methods. As a result there may be some visible imperfections. Our spices will have variations in size and colour due to factors such as the amount of sunlight they received when growing, or the amount of rainfall in a particular season. These differences in appearance are entirely normal, and are the result of not treating them with any chemicals, reducing unnecessary hand selection, and minimizing waste.
