Use this wondrous mushroom powder for adding umami flavour to anything! It's a great natural way to mimic a similar flavour to MSG and without any of the controversy.
This mushroom powder is ground semi-fine and will melt on cooking in liquids. Add to soups, noodle broths (like Pho), cream sauces and have a subtle earthy savoury note. We also tested them out in burger patties, or sprinkling ontop of freshly baked fries and they add a new depth of flavour to these too.
Our shiitake mushroom powder is made fresh in Hong Kong by grinding whole dried shiitake mushrooms in-house so we can be sure of purity and quality.
Dried shiitake mushrooms are powerful and commonly used for adding flavour to traditional chinese broth and stocks. They are also used for their anti-inflammatory and other health benefits - although we believe a lot of these claims are unsubstantiated. What we do agree with is that the taste is phenomenal, and just adding 1/2 a teaspoon is enough to change a entire family size portion.
