Peppercorn prices have been rising due to tight supply, and heavy market speculation. In India, prices for Black Peppercorns have risen slightly as the season comes to an end, and major buying has been completed. In Malaysia, prices have risen around 10% in anticipation of the upcoming new crop in late June. White Pepper coming from Indonesia and Malaysia has also been on a similar price rise. Qualities commonly sold to the Euro region, and other parts of the west have seen price increases of 5-10% in the last few weeks, also for these reasons.
We foresee a slight shortage of crop in the season, so further price increases may occur.
