As with most fine spices, it’s always best to buy allspice whole. Allspice is commonly found ground, and ground spices have their own headaches – weaker flavour, old, and often diluted or adulterated with cheap varieties if not admixture. We suggest also buying Allspice grown in Turkey, as we’ve noticed this variety of allspice has the traditional flavours enjoyed by middle eastern palates today. Supply in turkey is also much more reliable than some other parts of the world. Further than this, we suggest looking for higher grade (grade A or AA) allspice berries. Higher grading to allspice is given in industry for more denser allspice berries. A and AA are amongst the most dense allspice berries – the most flavour packed per berry! Welcome to read our Allspice page for more notes regarding this exotic spice, or purchase your own of the most premium tasting quality available!
