杜松子

杜松子不會讓你立刻就把它當成一種香料，但它的用途幾乎和任何香料一樣廣泛。杜松酒是用杜松子開發出來的，這就是杜松酒的名字的由來（杜松酒的法語是genivre，荷蘭語是jeenever）。杜松子的味道有點苦，不能直接食用，但在烹飪中使用時，它們可以在堅韌的肉類中帶出很好的甜味。

Efficient Delivery

About the Freshness of Juniper Berries

Last time I bought juniper berries from Regency Spices, there was a very pleasant and fresh smell like Christmas tree. After a period of time, like weeks, the christmas tree flavor faded and a strong berries smell remained.

However, I wonder why the juniper berries I ordered this time did not have the fresh and crispy Christmas tree flavor but a mature berry smell.

Grateful to have your reply and may be you can tell me more about things of juniper berries.

Thanks for your review and feedback. The juniper berries are highly seasonal product - we import them once a year. Flavours are much stronger at the start of season, and even though we do try our best to store in airtight bags in air-con, some subtleties of the flavour do disappear with time. The aroma usually goes faster, but taste will stay throughout if stored well in airtight bags below 25C. If you crush or use in cooking this way, you should still get the same nice flavour.
