Timut pepper has a lively aroma similar to that of passionfruit and grapefruit. Its wonderful taste is deliciously combined with seafood, meats, fruits, jams and chocolate dishes. In Nepal, it is popular when used in dry vegetable dishes, especially those containing potatoes and tomatoes. Timut pepper comes from the “toothache tree”, Zanthoxylum alatum, from which extracts are used for alleviating toothaches. Also known as Nepal pepper, Yer ma, Thingye, Current mirchi, Timur, टिमुर, Zanthoxylum alatum.
